Consider/Approve Amendment to Board Policy #5.109 – Evaluation |

Background Information: On May 15, 2011, the Tennessee State Board of Education adopted the Teacher and Principal Evaluation Policy. This Policy was required to meet the requirements of Tennessee’s First to the Top Act. The TSBA recommended policy needs to replace our current Board policy for the System to be in compliance with the First to the Top Act and State Board Rules and Regulations. We adopted the State’s Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model (TEAM) as our evaluation model. In addition, since we must follow State Board Rules and Regulations, Policy 5.201 as adopted by the State Board of Education, will supply the necessary procedures to fulfill the responsibilities of the TSBA recommended Board policy. Staff Recommendation: I recommend approval of the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #5.109 – Evaluation, on second and final reading. |
